Portage Creek Landings
This is the initial building that "kicks-off" a new office condominium park. This self-developed office complex will eventually accommodate six to eight buildings on wooded land formerly used for residential structures. Its location near the Portage City Center and the growth of office development along Centre Street makes the office park a better utilization of the property. The first building was purposely designed to set the standards for future development. A timeless exterior was composed using classic roof lines, colors and standard materials that will not "date" the building while offering sufficient context for future buildings to emulate. The interiors were a contemporary contrast to the sedate exterior. Exposed wood trusses, skylights, color and open office planning afford a break from the traditional exterior. The building is designed with a central core of utilities that includes a partial basement and a storage mezzanine that provides separate, secure storage areas for both tenants. Marshburn/Bunkley Associates, Architects occupy 60% of the building and another tenant, the remaining 40%. The five acre site is subdivided into six individual ownership parcels. Portage Creek crosses the north portion of the site and divides the office development from undeveloped natural marsh land. Infrastructure improvements such as signage, site utilities and common driveway were completed along with the first building.
